Also, at this link, in the Train the Trainer section, there is information about the Bureau's schedule for classes to become a certified instructor for the Nurse Aide Training Program. Classes are scheduled through the end of the calendar year.

Psychiatric/Mental Health Services
The Psych Subcommittee of the Michigan Home Health Association has developed two manuals for use by agencies interested in providing psychiatric/mental health services.
The first manual provides member organizations with a modular format for teaching intervention and response techniques during interactions with psychiatric patients for non-mental health staff. This module was originally printed in 1998 and has recently been updated entitled “Modules for Teaching non Mental Health staff”. Order Here!
In the second manual, “Suggestions for Starting Your Own Mental Health Program”, you will find policies and procedures, suggestions for handling on call and ER plans, teaching and assessment tools for use with the mental health patient, and more! Order Here!
The Michigan Dementia Coalition
The Michigan Dementia Coalition has announced the release of “Knowledge and Skills Needed for Dementia Care: A Guide for Direct Care Workers.” Also released is the “Michigan Dementia Education and Training Program Directory.” Both are available at the Dementia Coalition Website and can be downloaded and printed at no charge. Michelle Munson-McCorry, of East Lansing-Based Complete Compassionate Care, was instrumental in creating the initiative and the three-year effort to develop these important products.
The Office of LTC Overview
This link is a slide presentation by Mike Head, Director of the Office of Long Term Care Services and Supports in the Michigan Department of Community Health. The presentation describes the mission and activities of the Office, including the Single Point of Entry (SPE) system designed to promote and enable consumer choice for services ranging from placement in a skilled nursing facility to home and community-based care.
